This bag is a small, real-life example of circular design.

During Covid, we made an awning for our neighbour café, Leona’s, here in Kinsale. It was created to cover their outdoor structure and was made together with Levi, Mamukko’s co-founder and previous designer.

The awning stayed up for nearly two years, protecting the space through all kinds of Irish weather. When it was time for Leona’s to replace it, the canvas could have become waste. Instead, Leona offered it back to us.

We took it down, brought it back to the workshop, washed it, air-dried it, and stored it until the right moment came.

The canvas was then split between the two brothers. Levi used part of it to create drum bags, and now Attila and Nora have transformed another part into this new Mamukko gearbag.

So this is not just a bag made from reclaimed material.

It is a local story, a family workshop story, and a circular economy story.

A product was made.

It served its purpose.

It was rescued.

It was cleaned, reimagined, and transformed.

And now it is ready for its next journey.

Made from reclaimed Leona’s awning canvas, with yellow or burgundy side panels, strong webbing handles, an industrial zip, brass eyelets, and the honest marks of a material that has already lived one life.

The first batch is only three pieces, with slight variations in the side-panel colours.

We may make a few more, but we never promise.
