Backie Atlantic

Designed by our co - founder Levente Magyar more than a decade ago, Backie is one of the original Mamukko backpack designs.

There is something timeless about its shape. Soft curves, balanced proportions and an organic silhouette that feels more grown than designed. Even after all these years, it remains one of my favourite Mamukko pieces.

For years, we cut every Backie by hand. This small batch of just three backpacks is among the first produced using our new Italian cutting dies, allowing us to recreate Levi’s original design with the precision it deserves.

This particular Backie is also a milestone for us.

It features one of the first liferaft fronts ever used on this design. The rich cognac leather came from a French tannery and arrived in our workshop through England as part of a machine-sale exchange — one of those unexpected journeys that perfectly fits the Mamukko story. The back panel is crafted from reclaimed airplane seat material, giving new purpose to another remarkable material.

The result is a backpack that carries more than your daily essentials. It carries stories of travel, rescue, craftsmanship and second chances.
