The Backie Atlantic is the return of one of Mamukko’s most loved backpack designs.

Originally created by Levi Magyar over a decade ago, the Backie has become one of the most recognisable Mamukko pieces. Its clean lines, comfortable size and timeless character have made it a favourite among Mamukko supporters for years.

For many years, every Backie was cut by hand in our workshop. Today, custom Italian cutting dies help us honour Levi’s original design, allowing us to recreate it with the precision and consistency it deserves while preserving the character that made it special in the first place.

This particular Backie Atlantic carries its own unique story.

The front panel is crafted from a reclaimed Squib sail that once raced the waters of Kinsale Harbour. The rich cognac leather came from a French tannery and found its way to our workshop through England as part of a machine-sale exchange — one of those unexpected journeys that perfectly reflects the Mamukko story. The back panel is crafted from reclaimed airplane seat material, giving new purpose to another remarkable material.

Together, these materials create a backpack that carries more than your daily essentials. It carries stories of the sea, travel, craftsmanship and second chances.
